Hi, I'm Raven. It's lovely to meet you!
|
What I do: I guide women across the bridge from stuck to fabulous, by reminding you of your own inner worth and power, especially when you're going through dramatic life transitions. Often those circumstances make us feel stuck and powerless, so I will help you to reclaim the joy and passion that you still have deep within to release your inner fabulosity.
Who I am: I'm a dancer, a traveler, an artist, a writer, amateur photographer, a voracious reader, and a basket weaver. I'm married and the proud aunt of 20 nieces and nephews! In May 2013, I'll be starting a new job as Mama. I am a firm believer in the power of women to make great changes in our own lives and therefore in the world. I hold sacred space for those that need healing, revitalization, and to rekindle joy. I have no intention to tiptoe through life- I believe in living to the fullest and drinking every last drop from my cup. What I've done: I served with the Peace Corps in Zambia for 3 years as a preventative health educator. I worked with the community to set up an organization for commercial sex workers to empower those women to make better choices in their own lives, to prevent HIV and get out of the sex trade. I've also worked in a variety of office jobs and retail jobs that I didn't enjoy, so I can empathize with anyone who feels stuck in a life you didn't want. (There is a way out- just trust the process and most importantly, trust yourself.) Why I'm a Life Coach: After working for many years and various non-profit organizations, trying to help make the world a better place, I have realized that the only real way to help the world is to show people the brightness they have inside and to remind them that they have a right to shine. We all have a purpose here but so many of us are busy merely counting down our days because of fear or imagined limitations. I, too, have put in my years of misery, but I know my purpose is to help other women reach their full potential and I know that life coaching is a great opportunity for that. I look forward to sharing this joyful journey with you. My official credentials: I have a Bachelor's in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and I'm a Certified Women's Life Transition Coach and Master Spirit Life Coach through the Certified Coaching Alliance. Behind the Name Discovering Your Dance I love the imagery of life as a dance. Sometimes we lead, sometimes we follow, sometimes it's time to change partners, change the music, learn a new step, or start a new dance entirely. Dancing has always been a huge part of my life, from my ballet/tap/jazz classes as a little girl to my 5 years in Southern Africa, where dance is the center of all social activities (I learned some amazing moves there). And helping you to discover your own dance and exploring new rhythms truly excites me. So, please join in the conga line & let's dance!
